Sathyan Madakkara (or Satyan M.) is a poet in the Malayalam literature. == Biography == He was born in 1962 in Madakkara, near Vadakara, India. His father is C.C. Madakkara, a writer and social activist, and his mother is Shantha. During his school and college days, he was very interested in the Malayalam literature and was also involved in various social activities. After his graduation in Economics (B.Com.), he was actively involved in writing poems, and teaching the Malayalam language. He always writes in mainstream publications in Malayalam like Bhashaposhini, Malayalam, Kalakaumudi, and Mathrubhumi. His first book, Manal (sand), a collection of poems, was published in 1990, reviewed by Kadathanattu Madhavi Amma, a renowned poet. She commented that he was able to bring together old and new Malayalam poetic styles in his works. She advised him continue his poetic pursuit. At present he works for Dibba Sea Port, Fujerah, UAE; for the past 22 years. This year, he has completed 25 years of literary contribution to Malayalam. Various organisations in UAE and India have started honouring him. He is recipient of various awards like Abu Dhabi Malayali Samajam Award, Abu Dhabi Shakti Award and Sahrudaya Award by Kerala Readers and Writers Circle (Vayanakkuttam) UAE Chapter.
